More than 173 receipts tested on patients and 15 plants in tests of laboratories to date.

Amadou Hampaté Bâ said: In Africa, an old man who dies is a library which burns Just to testify to the knowledge which was stored over decades. The transmission of this knowledge is often done from father to son and this on generations.

This department was created in 2005 after researchers from departments of Environment and Agronomic Questions and Wildlife & Fisheries have noticed in previous studies some ethnozoology and ethnobotany practices by shamans, to cure some illness. These observations noticed, have suggested to them an improvement of local and traditional knowledge.
We have in this department, researchers of the two precedent departments; veterinary doctors, doctors in medicine,traditional researchers.

Three objectives are pursuing:
1- Test by scientific ways the efficiency of local treatments (plants,or animal organs) against illness;
2- Work for the recognition of this knowledge as a scientific level;
3- Work on new diseases, transmitted from wildlife to population.
All the senior researchers are registered at full time in university,or governmental structures for research.

This ethno zoology and ethno botanic, covers various fields of medicine (children cure, gynaecology, psychiatry, etc).
Some examples:

– The continuous haemorrhages post childbirth,
– Threats of abortion,
– Anti-venomous solutions,
– To fill the delay of growth of a child,
– piles, and so !.

Between charlatans and swindlers, there exists a small range of qualified traditional men medicine, with whom the establishment of the bases of a scientific work is possible. Our mission is the safeguard of this endogenous knowledge. It comes out
from it from the results completely surprising whose results can revolutionize not only the pharmacopeia, but all the drug industry.

This reason pushes the missions of the other departments to insert almost obligatorily heading ethno zoology and collects also ethno botanic in their colleected data.
